Sadik is a graduate of Hacettepe University, Ankara, (BA, Business Management). Sadik has been an active volunteer within the Turkish speaking community for the past 7 years. He has been involved in founding various charities. Sadik is also co-director of “BRIDGE” (Building Real Intercultural Dialogue through Grundtvig Experience) programme funded by European Union. Sadik is working for his own tutoring company. Born and raised in Turkey, Sadik is married and has one son.
Taptuk Emre is a PhD candidate at the Institute for Public Policy and Management in Keele University. Having had his Bachelor's degree in Economics at Fatih University in Istanbul, Taptuk is now studying on the economic theory of non-profit organizations via focusing on the particular institutions in United Kingdom and Turkey. Before joining Midlands Dialogue Forum, he had a successful internship programme at the Dialogue Society located in London.
Seref is a PhD candidate in Politics and International Relations at the Research Institute for Social Sciences at Keele University. He received his BA in Political Science and International Relations from Marmara University (Istanbul) and his MA in Modern Turkish History from Bogazici University (Istanbul). His MA thesis examined the transformation of a legal pro-Kurdish political party in Turkey with regard to the tension between ethnicity and national integrity. For one term he taught English and political history in Turkey. He currently researches diasporan associations in Britain focusing on their strategies and mechanisms for political mobilization of the diasporan community and their political participation. His primary research interests are ethnicity, identity politics, cultural anthropology, social and transnational movements and political sociology. Seref is currently co-ordinating Dialogue Society’s Academic Workshop “Spotlight on Multiculturalism”. He enjoys ethnic and choral music and has sung in a number of polyphonic choirs.
Shahista, a non-practising Barrister and member of the Honourable Society of Inner Temple, is a founding Committee member and was the secretary to The Bar Society in 2009. She obtained her LLB in 2010 and is studying her Bar Finals at the College of Law in Birmingham. She has been an active volunteer for numerous charities since 2005. She was on the Board of Governors in 2006 for four Sandwell Colleges managing a 2.3 million pound budget. She has independently organised fundraisers for local Mosques in Smethwick. Shahista has given numerous lectures on key women issues at the Jamia Mosque in Smethwick. Her personal research interests include international mediation, civil and human rights and freedom of belief and religion. Shahista is currently undertaking an internship with The Dialogue Society and researches on key issues in multiculturalism and women in the society from diverse backgrounds. She was born and raised in Birmingham and is multilingual in Asian languages.
