Abstract

The basis of annual Dialogue Society grass roots activities, ‘Noah's Pudding’ celebrates the common heritage of Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

In the Muslim prophetic tradition, the day Moses (peace be upon him) and his community were saved from the Pharaoh's army, and the day Noah's (peace be upon him) ark was saved from the flood is marked with fasting, and in modern times with the sharing of a special dessert known as ‘Noah's Pudding’.

Every year, thousands of bowls of Noah's pudding are shared by the families of Dialogue Society volunteers with their neighbours and with members of various faith-based organizations in the South of the UK.

Biography of Cllr Tony Jones

The Right Worshipful the Mayor of Reading Councillor Tony Jones was elected as Mayor of Reading on Wednesday 11 June 2014.

Tony is currently one of the three Labour councillors for Redlands ward and this is his second term as Mayor of Reading having previously held the position in 2001/2002. He was first elected to Reading Borough Council in 1984 and has also represented Battle and Whitley wards.

Originally from New Tredegar, South Wales, 57 year old Tony has lived in Reading for most of his adult life. Married to fellow councillor Liz Terry, the couple have three children and three grand-children.

Mr Mayor is a keen supporter of Welsh rugby, English cricket and an enthusiastic golfer.

Biography of Inspector Beverley Pearse

Inspector Beverley Pearse was posted to Reading Local Police Area from Slough in August 2014. She has been a police officer for 16 years and has worked in a number of roles including CID, Intelligence and Response. She currently manages the Caversham Neighbourhood Policing Team.
