    Degree in Economics and Law (University of Barcelona), 1976.

    Entered the Spanish Diplomatic Service on 25th April 1980.

    Posted in the Embassies of Spain in Bolivia (1980-82), the Philippines (1982-84), the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Madrid (1984-87) and the Spanish Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York (1987-1991).

    Chief of Staff to the Secretary General for Foreign Policy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1991-96).

    Ambassador of Spain to Malaysia, 1996 – 2001.

    Ambassador of Spain to Vietnam (based in Kuala Lumpur) 1997 – 1998.

    Ambassador of Spain to Brunei Darussalam (based in Kuala Lumpur) 1996 – 2001.

    Ambassador Representative of Spain to the Political and Security Committee of the European Union, 2001 – 2004.

    Senior Diplomatic Adviser to the Prime Minister, 2004 – 2008.

    Ambassador of Spain to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland since August 2008.

    Married to Mrs. Margarita Massanet with 2 daughters.
