    Sir Albert Bore is a Labour politician in Birmingham, where he has been a councillor representing Ladywood since 1980, leader of Birmingham City Council 1999–2004, and is currently leader of the Labour Group. Before entering politics he was a nuclear physics lecturer at Aston University. He was knighted in the 2002 New Year honours for services to local government. Sir Albert is a non-executive director for several organisations in Birmingham, including Birmingham Symphony Hall, Optima Community Housing Association, Marketing Birmingham, National Exhibition Centre Limited and Birmingham Technology Ltd. In 2006, he was elected chairman of the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.
