Abstract

On 5th May 2011, the British public will cast a vote to elect new Councillors and Leader of Councils in Local elections . Considering some of the challenges that the British government has recently faced due to the global economic crises, upcoming elections will be influential to understand UK citizens' attitudes towards the policies of current government, local government cuts, as well as the new approaches developed and presented by parties' opponent.

In this seminar, Sir Albert Bore will confer on the policies of the Labour Party and answer the questions of attendees.

Biography of Sir Albert Bore

Sir Albert Bore is a Labour politician in Birmingham, where he has been a councillor representing Ladywood since 1980, leader of Birmingham City Council 1999–2004, and is currently leader of the Labour Group. Before entering politics he was a nuclear physics lecturer at Aston University. He was knighted in the 2002 New Year honours for services to local government. Sir Albert is a non-executive director for several organisations in Birmingham, including Birmingham Symphony Hall, Optima Community Housing Association, Marketing Birmingham, National Exhibition Centre Limited and Birmingham Technology Ltd. In 2006, he was elected chairman of the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.
