Sat, 06 Oct 2007 15:01 in Community Engagement
Where: Wisdom School, London

The Dialogue Society invited numerous faith groups across London, to its Interfaith & Inter-Community Fast Breaking Iftar dinner. Representatives from the Unitarian Chapel, Hampstead; St. Peter’s Church, Edmonton; Quakers from Muswell Hill Friends House; Vita et Pax Catholic Community as well as individuals from the local community attended the dinner promoting fellowship and peace.

The evening began with a short welcome speech followed by the Ezan (call to prayer). When it was time to break the fast, guests were served with a traditional Turkish Iftar dinner. Some members of the Christian community said that they too had fasted that day to experience the spirituality and joy of breaking their fasts with their Muslim friends.

The evening gave everybody the opportunity to share in the spirit of Ramadan as well as enjoy a meal prepared by volunteers. Throughout the evening, guests from different faiths were also able to meet and network whilst being entertained by live Sufi music.
