The Dialogue Society and Rosslyn Hill Unitarian Chapel jointly organised a Fast Breaking Iftar, where members and congregation of both the Society and Chapel were respectively invited. The call to prayer was made at sunset and members of the Rosslyn Hill Chapel joined the Dialogue Society in the fast breaking dinner.
Volunteers of the Dialogue Society prepared an exquisite spread of traditional Turkish cuisine in buffet style to share together with their Unitarian friends whilst enjoying each others company.
Following the iftar, recitation of verses from Chapter Maryam (Mary) of the Qur’an was recited, together with a powerpoint presentation showing the translation of the verses being read. This was followed by a speech by Dr Bekir Cinar on the significance of the month of Ramadan and the spiritual benefits of fasting. He concluded with a few words about future projects and how the two organisations can continue to work together.
Jim Robinson of the Chapel, explained the history of the Unitarian faith and the activities undertaken by Rosslyn Hill Chapel, and thanked the Dialogue Society for co-organising such an event. The evening concluded with tea, coffee and dessert, and with members networking with one another.
The Dialogue Society would also like to express its gratitude to Rosslyn Hill Unitarian Chapel and its members for their hospitality, for the warm welcome that it received and for hosting such a wonderful event. Members from both organisations said that they felt an indescribable inner peace throughout the programme.
