Dialogue with Islington Council: ‘Mechanisms and Interventions for Community Cohesion’

Ilknur Kahraman, Co-Director of the Dialogue Society, was invited by the Leader of Islington Council, Cllr Terry Stacy, to introduce the work of the Dialogue Society to Community, Regeneration and Equalities teams in Islington as well as leading faith representatives within the Borough. The programme which took place on 19th November, during National Interfaith Week was attended by over fifty guests and personnel. Cllr Stacy emphasised his personal commitment to bridging communities of different cultures and faiths and introduced the Dialogue Society as an organisation also committed to these aims. Ilknur Kahraman spoke on the topic of ‘Mechanisms and Interventions for Community Cohesion’ and illustrated this with practical examples of community-led projects.

Revd Jennifer Potter, Minister of Wesley’s Chapel in Islington and Executive Chair of Islington Faiths Forum (IFF) also spoke of the work of the Forum and its main objectives. Ilknur Kahraman is pleased to have joined the IFF as a Committee Member in July 2009.
