Dialogue with Local Police: Methods of Effective Engagement

The Dialogue Society delivered an introductory seminar on ‘Effective Means of Engagement with the Muslim Community’ to 25 senior Police Officers within Enfield Constabulary on 24th November at Rumi Mosque and Dialogue Centre. Dr Cem Erbil, Academic Co-ordinator of the Dialogue Society introduced the session followed with a brief introduction to Islam. Ilknur Kahraman, Co-Director of the Dialogue Society, then highlighted some of the key issues surrounding the Muslim community and how police can effectively engage with the Muslim population resident within their constabularies. She concluded with practical recommendations which police officers could implement when interacting with the Muslim Community. The session was interactive and allowed for vibrant discussion.
