The Dialogue Society North East Branch, in partnership with NEDES, Buffalo Community Centre, and Blyth Madina Masjid & Community Centre, proudly hosted the 2nd Annual Blyth Dialogue Iftar & Diversity Dinner. Funded by the Heart of Blyth Project and the Shaping Places for Healthier Lives Programme (SPHL), the event aimed to promote community wellbeing, address health inequalities, and celebrate inclusion across Blyth.
The evening commenced with a welcome from our Executive Director, Sadik Cinar, followed by a vibrant programme featuring delicious Anatolian cuisine, a live Ney performance, local musician Dave Cowan, live art workshops, and an Adhan by Faruk. Guests were inspired by keynote speeches from HM Vice Lord Lieutenant for Northumberland Caroline Pryer, High Sheriff Diana Barkas, Leader of County Council Glen Sanderson, and community representatives Diana Barkes and Kath Nisbet.
The event provided a unique opportunity for community members to share dialogue, cultural experiences, and fellowship, reflecting the warmth and unity of Blyth’s diverse population. As highlighted by the event’s success, the community continues to grow stronger, demonstrating that in Blyth, “we are a big family.”
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Buffalo Community Centre and Eileen Cartie for facilitating this annual event, the Heart of Blyth Project, Northumberland County Council, and The Health Foundation for their support, as well as to all volunteers, performers, speakers, and guests who made the evening truly unforgettable.
