The 2nd South Tyneside Community Christmas Dinner was a highly successful celebration of community cohesion, cultural diversity, and shared values, bringing together over 100 participants for a memorable and impactful day.

Organised by Dialogue Society North East Branch, the event welcomed residents, volunteers, friends, and guests into a warm and inclusive festive space. With the generous support of South Tyneside Council, and the commitment of Hayley Page and Cllr Paul Dean, the gathering created an environment where people could connect meaningfully and celebrate the season together.

The programme was enriched by outstanding live performances from Peddlers, including a moving rendition of “Love Can Build a Bridge Between Your Heart and Mine,” which strongly reflected the event’s theme of Voices in Unity. The atmosphere was further enhanced by vibrant Kenyan music performed by Nyatrapasa Otieno, showcasing the power of cultural expression in bringing communities together.

Guests enjoyed a wide range of delicious, freshly prepared food, shared in a spirit of generosity and togetherness. A key highlight of the event was the official launch of the “Open Doors” project, marking an important step forward in Dialogue Society’s ongoing work to build inclusive, welcoming spaces across the region.

The strong attendance and active participation demonstrated the growing impact of community dialogue initiatives in South Tyneside. This event reaffirmed Dialogue Society’s commitment to building bridges, celebrating diversity, and fostering lasting connections, leaving a positive and lasting impression on all who attended.
