The 3rd Annual Blyth–Northumberland Community Dialogue Christmas Event stood as a powerful example of community resilience, solidarity, and shared purpose. Despite challenging weather conditions, residents, community leaders, and organisations came together in Blyth to celebrate the festive season and welcome the new year in the spirit of “Voices in Unity.”

Hosted at Headway Arts, with warm and generous support from Fran Castle, the event provided a welcoming and inclusive space where people from diverse backgrounds gathered as one community. The celebration was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Dialogue Society volunteers, in partnership with NEDES, under the leadership of its Chair Taha Ozleblebici, and the valued contributions of Hakan Akarlı.

The programme featured inspiring addresses from Ian Lavery MP and Mayor Cllr Aileen Barrass, alongside the presence of representatives from Northumbria Police, highlighting the importance of collaboration between communities and public institutions. Music played a central role in bringing people together, with memorable performances by Blyth Tall Ship Sea Shanty Singers, Rapasa, and Nyatrapasa Otieno, enriching the atmosphere with shared cultural expression.

Freshly prepared food, thoughtful hospitality, and interactive activities created opportunities for networking, conversation, and meaningful connection throughout the day. Special thanks are extended to Ade Line and Cllr Kath Nisbet for their continued support, which helped bring this event to life.

The strong turnout, even in the face of Storm Darragh, demonstrated the depth of community spirit in Blyth. This annual gathering reaffirmed that Blyth is more than a town — it is a home where diversity is embraced, voices are valued, and people come together with kindness, respect, and unity.
