The spirit of togetherness was in full display at our recent Dialogue Iftar in Milton Keynes, a heartwarming event that brought together over 250 guests from diverse backgrounds. In collaboration with MKIAC, InterfaithMK, and Church of Christ the Cornerstone, the evening highlighted the power of dialogue in fostering interfaith harmony and community cohesion.
Among the distinguished attendees were Lord Lieutenant Countess Howe, the Deputy Mayor, Commander Emma Baille, and community faith leaders—all coming together to celebrate the essence of Ramadan and the unifying strength of shared experiences.
A Night of Reflection, Culture, and Connection
The event was more than just a gathering—it was a testament to the power of dialogue in strengthening bonds between individuals and communities. Attendees were captivated by inspiring speeches that emphasised the importance of mutual understanding and respect. The evening was further enriched by the enchanting sounds of Anatolian music, which provided a beautiful cultural backdrop to the shared meal.
One of the highlights of the evening was the traditional Karagöz & Hacivat shadow play, a centuries-old storytelling tradition that entertained and engaged the audience, demonstrating how cultural heritage can be a bridge for dialogue and learning.
Breaking Bread, Building Bridges
As the call to prayer marked the time to break the fast, guests sat together to share a delicious meal, symbolising the importance of hospitality and friendship. The Dialogue Iftar was a powerful reminder that breaking bread together is one of the simplest yet most effective ways to foster community connections.
