On 17 March, the Dialogue Society Basingstoke, in partnership with Basingstoke College of Technology (BCOT) and the Faith & Education Society (FES), hosted its Annual Community Iftar, bringing together a diverse cross-section of the local community in the spirit of Ramadan.

We were honoured to welcome distinguished guests including the Mayor of Basingstoke, Cllr Colin Phillimore, Basingstoke MP Luke Murphy, the Bishop of Basingstoke, The Ven Kelly Betteridge, as well as local council representatives, community leaders, educators, students, parents, and members from various community organisations.

The evening began with the traditional breaking of the fast with dates and water, followed by a delicious Iftar meal. Guests enjoyed a vibrant programme, featuring a mesmerizing sand art performance, classical Turkish music, interactive quizzes using Kahoot, and audience engagement via Mentimeter, creating a lively and joyful atmosphere.

The warm and welcoming environment provided a meaningful space for connection, dialogue, and mutual understanding among attendees from diverse backgrounds.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to BCOT and FES for their generous support and partnership, and to all our volunteers and supporters whose dedication made this memorable evening possible.

Inspired by the spirit of Ramadan, the Dialogue Society Basingstoke remains committed to strengthening community bonds, fostering inclusivity, and building trust for a more connected and harmonious society.
