A warm and welcoming day was shared at the Gateshead Handcrafted Community Hub, where community members and volunteers came together through conversation, creativity, and shared experience. We are deeply grateful to the Hub for opening their kitchen and creating a space where people could gather to prepare Noah’s Pudding (Ashura)—a powerful symbol of unity and togetherness.
The Handcrafted Thursday Women’s Group worked side by side with our volunteers, taking part in every stage of the pudding’s preparation. This collaborative process reflected the heart of the day: people from different backgrounds contributing their time, skills, and stories to create something meaningful together.
Our volunteers also delivered an engaging presentation on the “Story of a Chickpea and Neighbouring,” exploring themes of diversity, multiculturalism, and community cohesion. Through shared discussion and reflection, the event celebrated both our differences and our shared values, highlighting how cultures can coexist in harmony while maintaining their unique identities.
As everyone gathered to enjoy the Noah’s Pudding, the moment became more than a shared meal—it was a reminder that food, stories, and dialogue can bring people together in powerful and lasting ways.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to North East Diversity, Education, and Solidarity (NEDES) and Gateshead Bridge Builders for their valued partnership and generous support. Their contribution made this meaningful gathering of unity and understanding possible.
