Free to Attend

During Summer 2022, the Dialogue Society North East Branch delivered a series of inspiring Water Marbling (Ebru) Art Workshops across the region. Hosted in a variety of welcoming community spaces—including Hartlepool St Joseph Catholic Church, Northumberland – Seaton Sluice Art Group, and local Newcastle Libraries—the workshops brought together people from diverse backgrounds to explore creativity and cultural expression.

Participants engaged in hands-on sessions, discovering the beauty of Ebru while connecting with others in a relaxed and inclusive environment. The workshops created meaningful opportunities for interaction, demonstrating how the language of art can build bridges—communicating from heart to heart beyond words.

Ebru, also known as water marbling, is a traditional Turkish art form where patterns are created by floating pigments on the surface of water and then carefully transferring them onto paper. Each piece is unique, reflecting both skill and spontaneity, and the process itself encourages patience, mindfulness, and creativity.

Through these workshops, the Dialogue Society North East Branch highlighted the power of art as a universal language—fostering dialogue, strengthening community ties, and celebrating cultural heritage across the North East.
