Vanessa Jardine

Chief Constable of Northumbria Police

Vanessa Jardine became Chief Constable of Northumbria Police in April 2023. Vanessa sets the vision and direction for the force, leading its operational delivery to serve the communities of Northumbria Police.

Dialogue Society North East Branch participated in an important Newcastle Faith and Community Leaders Meeting with Chief Constable Vanessa Jardine of Northumbria Police, hosted by Newcastle Hindu Temple.

The meeting brought together faith leaders, community representatives and local organisations to discuss key issues affecting communities across the region, including community safety, hate crime, public trust and strengthening partnerships between communities and the police.

The open and constructive discussions highlighted the importance of ongoing dialogue, mutual understanding and collaborative working in creating safer, more resilient and inclusive neighbourhoods. Participants shared perspectives and explored practical ways to address shared challenges while promoting respect, cohesion and positive community relations.

Dialogue Society values opportunities to engage with public institutions and community partners on issues that matter to local people. Such meetings play a vital role in building trust, encouraging cooperation and ensuring that diverse voices contribute to shaping safer communities.

We extend our sincere thanks to Newcastle Hindu Temple for hosting this valuable gathering and to Northumbria Police for their continued engagement with faith and community leaders. Through dialogue and partnership, we can continue to build stronger, safer and more connected communities across the North East.
