Dialogue Society attended the “Working Towards an Anti-Racist Region” event, organised by the North East Anti-Racism Coalition at Northumberland College. The gathering brought together representatives from community organisations, public institutions, and local leaders to reflect on progress made, share success stories from across the North East, and discuss the next steps towards building a more inclusive and anti-racist region.
The event highlighted the Coalition’s five key objectives: building a visible anti-racist movement, strengthening community cohesion, raising public awareness, supporting organisations and institutions, and developing a knowledge and evidence hub on racism and anti-racism. Through inspiring presentations, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities, participants explored practical ways to work collaboratively towards these shared goals.
During the event, Dialogue Society was proud to officially sign the Become the Bridge Campaign, joining organisations across the North East committed to taking meaningful action against racism. The campaign encourages organisations to examine their policies and practices, create safe spaces for learning and dialogue, and work together to foster equality, inclusion, and stronger community relationships.
By becoming a supporter of the Become the Bridge Campaign, Dialogue Society reaffirms its commitment to promoting dialogue, mutual understanding, and social cohesion. We look forward to working with our partners across the region to help build a North East where diversity is celebrated, inclusion is the norm, and everyone feels safe, respected, and valued.
