The Dialogue Society North East Branch successfully organized its 3rd Community Christmas Dialogue Event in partnership with South Tyneside Council, held at the historic South Tyneside Council Town Hall. The gathering brought together community members, civic leaders, volunteers, and representatives from local organizations to celebrate connection, dialogue, and togetherness during the festive season.
The event commenced with opening remarks from our Regional Director, who welcomed guests and highlighted the significance of community dialogue initiatives across the region. This was followed by an inspiring speech from Mayor Jay Potts, who reflected on the importance of building community trust, fostering meaningful dialogue, and strengthening social bonds across South Tyneside.
Guests enjoyed a rich programme featuring live musical performances by Peddlers and young musician Jossie Littlewood, whose uplifting and engaging songs added a warm and festive atmosphere to the evening. The event also showcased multicultural foods, table games, interactive activities, and guided table discussions, all designed to encourage connection and understanding among participants.
This year, the Dialogue Society was delighted to host 80 guests from across South Tyneside. We extend our sincere gratitude to the 10 young volunteers who supported the event and contributed significantly to its smooth running.
As part of our commitment to community support, the selected charitable initiative for this year’s gathering was the Love Christmas Project, organized by St. Gregory’s Church. Project volunteer Maria Fraser delivered an informative presentation outlining the project’s mission and its goal to reach 500 individuals in need this Christmas.
The Dialogue Society is proud to continue fostering spaces where diverse communities can come together in friendship, understanding, and shared celebration. We thank all our partners, volunteers, performers, and guests for making this year’s Community Christmas Dialogue Event a heartfelt success.
