The Dialogue Society Reading took centre stage in hosting a vibrant Women’s Day program in 2024, welcoming guests including Prof Parveen Yaqoob, Vice Chancellor of the University of Reading; Cllr Beth Rowland, the Mayor of Wokingham; Revd April Beckerleg, Vicar at St Nicolas Church Earley, representatives Berkshire Women’s Aid and Early Charity, and participants from diverse backgrounds.

This event served as a beacon of empowerment, unity, and celebration, where voices from different walks of life united in solidarity. Thought-provoking speeches by influential figures highlighted the achievements, challenges, and aspirations of women globally, inspiring all in attendance.

Interactive games and engaging activities facilitated connections and solidarity among attendees, breaking down barriers and fostering a sense of community. The rhythmic melodies of music filled the air, creating an atmosphere of jubilation and freedom as individuals danced to the beats of empowerment.

Delicious cuisine, representing the richness and diversity of cultures, delighted the palate and served as a reminder of the importance of nourishment and sustenance in the journey towards equality.

We hope that this event contributed to the ongoing dialogue, action, and support, driving towards a future where every woman and girl can thrive, unbound by limitations and empowered to fulfil their dreams.
