Dialogue Society North East Branch was proud to support and participate in the Race for Peace 2026, an inspiring community initiative organised by Race for Peace, Youth Charter and DiverCity Hub. The day brought together people from diverse faiths, cultures and backgrounds to promote peace, friendship and social cohesion.
The programme began with the Newcastle Peace Walk, where hundreds of participants walked together in a powerful demonstration of unity, solidarity and hope. Community leaders, young people, local organisations and residents came together with a shared commitment to building stronger and more connected communities.
The celebrations continued with the Concert for Peace at Wylam Brewery, showcasing the unifying power of music and the arts. Dialogue Society North East Branch was delighted to contribute to the evening through a musical performance while also supporting the event as a partner organisation. The concert featured outstanding performances from a wide range of artists, reflecting the richness of the North East’s cultural diversity and conveying one shared message: peace.
The event was a remarkable success, bringing together around 300 participants, supported by 42 volunteers, featuring nine performances by more than 75 performers, alongside six distinguished guest speakers. Together, the Peace Walk and Concert for Peace created more than five hours of celebration, dialogue and community engagement, demonstrating how collaboration across organisations and communities can strengthen mutual understanding and social cohesion.
Dialogue Society congratulates Race for Peace and all partner organisations, volunteers, performers and participants for delivering such an inspiring initiative. In a world where division too often dominates the headlines, events like these remind us that lasting peace begins by walking together, listening to one another and celebrating our shared humanity.
