Gateshead Community Corner 6 – Reading Challenge Day

The sixth Gateshead Community Corner (C²) marked a highly successful Reading Challenge Day, bringing together families and community members for an engaging programme centred on learning, literacy, and social connection.

Organised by Dialogue Society’s North East Branch, the event created an inclusive environment where reading was celebrated as a shared and meaningful activity. Alongside interactive sessions and family-friendly activities, participants enjoyed a welcoming atmosphere that encouraged curiosity, dialogue, and community engagement across generations.

The success of the Reading Challenge was made possible through the generous support of NEDES, Bensham Grove Community Centre and Gateshead Central Library, whose donation of books played a vital role in enriching the experience and ensuring access to reading materials for all participants.

This gathering reaffirmed the purpose of Gateshead Community Corner as a platform for strengthening communities through education, collaboration, and cultural exchange, while fostering a lifelong appreciation for learning within a supportive community setting.
