Gateshead Community Corner 7 – Coffee Making Workshop & Culture

Open to Everyone
Free to Attend

Bensham Grove Community Centre

The seventh Gateshead Community Corner (C²) offered a rich and engaging exploration of coffee as a cultural bridge, bringing neighbours together for a hands-on Coffee Making Workshop at Bensham Grove Community Centre.

Led by Ferdi Aktas, a coffee professional, roaster, and entrepreneur, the session guided participants through the journey of coffee — from green beans to freshly brewed cups. Attendees learned about brewing techniques, roasting processes, and the diverse coffee traditions found across cultures, while sharing their own stories and experiences in a relaxed, welcoming setting.

More than a workshop, the gathering created space for warm conversation and meaningful connection, using coffee as a starting point for dialogue and community building. True to the Community Corner ethos, the event was shaped by participation, curiosity, and shared enjoyment.

This seventh Community Corner once again highlighted the project’s aim to foster inclusive, community-led spaces where everyday cultural practices become opportunities for learning, exchange, and connection.
