Gateshead Community Corner Launch Gathering – Breakfast & Art Gathering

The very first Gateshead Community Corner (C²) gathering took place on Saturday 19 October 2024, marking the launch of this new monthly, community-wide space created to bring neighbours together around food, art and friendship.

Hosted by Dialogue Society’s North East Branch, in collaboration with local volunteers and partners, the morning welcomed people of all ages and backgrounds to Bensham Grove Community Centre. Attendees shared a generous community breakfast, took part in a relaxed tea-brewing session, and explored creativity together through an open, hands-on art workshop.

True to the Community Corner ethos, the event was shaped by those who attended — with conversations, laughter, and creative expression flowing naturally throughout the space. No prior experience was needed; everyone was encouraged to join in, connect, and contribute in their own way.

This launch event set the tone for Community Corner as a flexible, welcoming gathering designed by the community itself — a place to meet neighbours, make new friends, and enjoy meaningful moments together.

Community Corner (C²) continues as a monthly gathering, evolving with the ideas and energy of the people who take part.
