The event began with a welcome and presentation on Interfaith Week and Noah’s Pudding, highlighting the traditional dessert as a symbol of unity, diversity, and harmony. This was followed by a panel discussion featuring prominent faith representatives:

  • Father Chris Hughes, Catholic Priest, Chair of the Diocesan Environmental Group

  • Revd Brigitta Steele, Methodist Minister – South West Tyne Circuit

  • Imam Bilal C., Chair – Gateshead Muslim Society

  • Imam Raza Rahman, Faith and Spirituality Support Coordinator – Newcastle University

  • Jaswinder Singh, Director – North East Sikh Service, Chaplain – Northumbria University

Attendees also participated in a workshop and conversation session, reflecting on practical ways to foster neighbourliness, dialogue, and understanding across communities. The interactive format encouraged meaningful discussion and the sharing of ideas for promoting cohesion and mutual respect in everyday life.

This event was part of Dialogue Society North East Branch’s ongoing work to strengthen interfaith understanding and community collaboration in the North East, reinforcing the importance of dialogue, shared traditions, and collective action in building inclusive communities.
