On 29 April 2022, the Dialogue Society volunteers proudly hosted a Ramadan Iftar Dinner in Hartlepool, bringing together people from all walks of life to celebrate community, diversity, and shared values. This gathering around the dinner table created a unique opportunity for dialogue, connection, and mutual understanding in a warm and inclusive setting.

The evening was honoured by the presence of distinguished guests, including High Sheriff of Durham Shona Harper-Wilkes, Leader of Hartlepool Borough Council Shane Moore, and Cleveland Police and Crime Commissioner Steve Turner, whose participation highlighted the importance of civic engagement in fostering community cohesion.

Guests enjoyed a vibrant programme featuring meaningful conversations, cultural exchange, and moments of reflection, all accompanied by a delicious array of traditional foods. The atmosphere was alive with laughter, shared stories, and a sense of togetherness, demonstrating the power of bringing communities together across different backgrounds and experiences.

The Dialogue Society Hartlepool team’s dedication and energy were instrumental in making the event a success. Attendees left inspired, having strengthened existing relationships, formed new connections, and experienced first-hand the spirit of unity and collaboration that defines these gatherings.

The Hartlepool Community Iftar was more than a meal—it was a celebration of respect, understanding, and the shared commitment to building bridges across the community. Events like this continue to show how small acts of coming together can create lasting impact, reinforcing Hartlepool as a place where diversity is embraced and community spirit thrives.
