Dialogue Society’s East Riding Branch was delighted to take part in a festive Christmas Dinner hosted by Humberside Police and organised by Dialogue Society East Riding volunteers, held at Humberside Police Headquarters on 15 December 2025. The event brought together civic leaders, partners, and community representatives to celebrate the season while strengthening relationships across communities.
Distinguished guests included The Right Worshipful the Lord Mayor of Kingston upon Hull, Councillor Cheryl Payne; the High Sheriff of the East Riding of Yorkshire, Michael Rice; Pippa Robson, Deputy CEO of Forum CIO; and Detective Chief Inspector Jon Cross. Their presence highlighted the shared commitment of civic institutions, public services, and civil society to fostering trust and cooperation.
The evening featured live music, interactive activities such as the “Pass the Gift” game and Kahoot, and a raffle, creating a relaxed and welcoming environment that encouraged open conversation and meaningful connection. Guided by the theme Building Community Trust, the event emphasised dialogue, hospitality, and mutual respect as foundations for stronger communities.
This Christmas Dinner had a tangible impact by deepening trust between local communities and Humberside Police, strengthening cross-sector relationships, and providing a safe space for informal dialogue. The shared experience of celebration helped break down barriers, humanise institutions, and reinforce a sense of belonging. By bringing together civic leaders, public servants, and community members, the event demonstrated the value of partnership-led engagement in building more cohesive, resilient, and trusting communities in Hull and the East Riding.
The Dialogue Society extends its sincere thanks to Humberside Police for their partnership and hospitality in making this event a meaningful and successful community initiative.
