On 11 February, we hosted the Life of a Chickpea workshop at Emmer Green Primary School, bringing together around 70 enthusiastic students for a fun and thought-provoking session. The event explored important themes of democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect through an engaging storytelling approach.
Distinguished guests included the Lord-Lieutenant of Berkshire Andrew Try, Rev. Alan Race from Reading Minster, Imam Yahya from Aisha Mosque, and Bonny Hazelwood from Reading University. Their insights enriched the session, making it an inspiring learning experience for all.
Students actively participated in discussions and activities, using the journey of a chickpea as a metaphor to reflect on their role in society. The workshop fostered curiosity, understanding, and respect for diverse perspectives, leaving everyone with valuable lessons and lasting memories.
The Life of a Chickpea initiative continues to encourage young minds to think critically and empathetically about the world around them.
