The Dialogue Society North East Branch recently delivered a Life of a Chickpea workshop at West Walker Primary School, welcoming 80 students for an engaging and thought-provoking session focused on dialogue, diversity, and shared values.
The workshop was hosted by the West Walker Primary School community and featured Bengisu Sevik as the storyteller, who guided students through the imaginative journey of the Life of a Chickpea. Students responded with enthusiasm, asking insightful and thoughtful questions throughout the session.
The event was enriched by inspiring presentations from a diverse panel of speakers, including Helen Wright from Newcastle Cathedral, Talia Turnbull representing the Baháʼí Community, and Imam Abbas Hussain from Heaton Mosque. Each speaker shared perspectives rooted in their own traditions, encouraging students to reflect on mutual respect, understanding, and living together in a diverse society.
The session created a safe and welcoming space for curiosity, discussion, and learning, demonstrating how creative dialogue can help young people engage with important values in a meaningful way.
The Dialogue Society would like to extend a huge thank you to the West Walker Primary School family for their warm welcome and support. Moments like these highlight the power of dialogue and shared understanding in bringing communities together.
