On 16 December 2022, a Community Christmas celebration was held in Byker–Walker, Newcastle upon Tyne, bringing local residents together for a festive gathering centred on the theme “Christmas Is Community.” The event was organised by the Dialogue Society North East Branch in collaboration with North East Diversity, Education and Solidarity (NEDES), and delivered in partnership with Walker Parish Church.

Hosted at Walker Parish Church, the event provided a welcoming space for families and community members to connect and celebrate the festive season. The programme included a variety of art workshops, handmade festive food, live music, and interactive games, creating an inclusive and joyful atmosphere for participants of all ages.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of a special recognition gift to Tyneview Primary School, acknowledging the school’s achievements in organising Cultural Day and the Walk 4 Water Project, initiatives that reflect strong community engagement and social responsibility.

This Christmas gathering in Byker–Walker highlighted the importance of local partnerships and volunteer-led initiatives in strengthening neighbourhood connections. The event successfully reflected the spirit of togetherness and shared celebration, reinforcing the message that Christmas is, at its heart, about community.
