On 14 April, the Dialogue Society North East Branch, in partnership with North East Diversity, Education and Solidarity (NEDES), St. James’ Church, and Newcastle West End Food Bank, hosted a Community Dialogue Iftar & Diversity Dinner under the theme “Ramadan is Community & Inclusion.”
The evening brought together people from diverse backgrounds to celebrate unity, dialogue, and shared experiences. Guests enjoyed delicious food, live music, a sand art show, art workshops, and meaningful opportunities to connect and engage with one another. Inspiring speeches were delivered by Cllr Ruth Berkley, Lead EDI – Tyneside Council, Rev. Christopher Minchin, Benweel, and a moving poem by Helen Wright of Newcastle West End Food Bank.
In recognition of our valued partners, volunteers presented special gifts, and a ceremony was held to honor our Earthquake Supporters, with Yusuf Kar, COO of Time to Help, presenting gifts to Monjer Rashid – Director of Diversity Hub, Rev. Chris and Elizabeth Flint – St. James’ Church, and fundraising champion Naim Moco.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all partners, supporters, and volunteers, whose dedication made this event a remarkable celebration of community, inclusion, and dialogue.
