Ashura (Noah’s Pudding) Celebrations in 2007 was held in the Church of St Thomas the Martyr in Newcastle on 25th of March. The event was initiated by reading the verses of the Quran about Mary and the English translation of the verses was projected on a screen for the audience to follow. Then the story of Prophet Noah was told by both Christian and Muslim speakers, as both communities share the same story. Ashura and drinks followed the presentations. Both communities had a chance to get to know each other and take photos.
