Religious leaders, scholars and practitioners from 12 countries came together to reflect on the legacy and future of Nostra Aetate. This conference was a sincere dialogue, respect and friendship between Christians, Jews and Muslims for our shared future. Our Manchester and Birmingham branches contributed to this conference as international collaborators. We were honoured by the participation and contributions of our esteemed guests, Qaisra Shahraz, Director of MACFEST, and Bishop David Evans.
From the heartfelt Welcome & Introduction by Bishop Dr Thomas Löhr and Abdullah Aymaz, to the powerful keynote “No more enemies but brothers” with His Eminence John Cardinal Onaiyekan and Rabbi Misha Kapustin,to deep theological reflections by Prof Scott C. Alexander and Dr Aydın İnal, the conference moved through sessions on practical interfaith cooperation, ethical foundations, and shared values. Bishop David Evans from Birmingham Diocesan Trust addressed “Meeting God in Friend and Stranger.”
This gathering was more than a conference – it was a visible sign that sincere dialogue, respect and friendship between Jews, Christians and Muslims are not only possible, but essential for our shared future.
