As part of Interfaith Week 2022, the Dialogue Society North East Branch  joined Benwell & Scotswood Team Parish to host a special community event at Venerable Bede Church.

Volunteers warmly welcomed members of the Fenham and Benwell communities, preparing and sharing delicious and nutritious Noah’s Pudding (Ashura). Symbolising unity and diversity, the pudding brought people together in a spirit of generosity, reflecting values of love, respect, and togetherness—while standing firmly against selfishness, hate, discrimination, and despair.

The event created a meaningful space for interfaith dialogue, celebrating diversity and strengthening community bonds. Special thanks were extended to Christopher Minchin for his valued support in making the gathering possible.

Through this initiative, participants experienced the power of shared traditions and hospitality in building bridges and fostering understanding across communities in the North East.
