On 26 June 2026, the Dialogue Society North East Branch hosted The Future of Interfaith in England – Regional Consultation for North East & Cumbria, bringing together 40 participants from 25 organisations, faith communities, charities, universities, local authorities and interfaith networks.
The consultation provided a valuable opportunity for participants to reflect on the current state of interfaith engagement across the region and to explore how cooperation can be strengthened for the future. Through four interactive discussion sessions, participants shared examples of successful interfaith initiatives, identified positive developments taking place locally and nationally, considered ways to strengthen interfaith work, and discussed how wider participation—particularly among younger generations and underrepresented communities—can be encouraged.
Beyond the discussions themselves, the event fostered new relationships and strengthened existing partnerships. Participants exchanged ideas, explored opportunities for future collaboration, and reaffirmed the importance of dialogue, mutual understanding, and community engagement in building stronger, more connected communities.
The evening concluded with a presentation of the Dialogue Society’s ongoing interfaith and intercultural projects, followed by an open networking session where participants shared their own initiatives and identified opportunities for working together in the future.
