The Dialogue Society’s Bolton branch organised an engaging workshop titled The Life of a Chickpea at Pikes Lane Primary School. In a presentation where chickpeas were used as a metaphor, efforts were made to convey to children the fundamental British values of mutual respect, individual liberty, tolerance, and democracy. At the end of the event, students were served Noah’s Pudding, which represents the diverse structure of the British community. Teachers expressed that highlighting the principles of diversity, inclusivity, and equality from the early stages of education through such an approach was both impactful and inspiring.
