The Sheffield Branch successfully hosted its annual Dialogue Iftar Dinner in partnership with Tapton School, welcoming 225 guests including students, parents, teachers, and members of the wider community. The event provided a vibrant and inclusive platform where young people and families could come together to share experiences, build friendships, and engage in meaningful dialogue during the month of Ramadan.
The programme featured contributions from the Headteacher, Dialogue Society volunteer Busra Ulus, and two student speakers, whose reflections highlighted the importance of understanding, respect, and youth engagement in shaping a more connected society. Alongside the speeches, attendees enjoyed a lively programme of activities including games, a Kahoot quiz, and video presentations, creating an interactive and welcoming atmosphere for all.
This Iftar Dinner builds on a successful initiative that has been running for several years, consistently receiving highly positive feedback from students, parents, and educators. It continues to serve as a key opportunity to strengthen relationships between schools and the wider community.
Impact
The event played a significant role in fostering multicultural understanding and promoting diversity among young people and their families. By bringing together different backgrounds in a shared space, it helped build confidence, encourage dialogue, and nurture a sense of belonging. Importantly, it strengthened connections between students, parents, and the broader community—laying the foundation for long-term engagement and social cohesion. With its ongoing success, this initiative remains a powerful example of how investing in youth and community dialogue can help build a more inclusive and united future.
