Dialogue Society Liverpool Branch hosted an inspiring two-day Life of a Chickpea project at Brine Leas Academy, engaging students in an interactive exploration of diversity, inclusion, and community values. Using the story of the humble chickpea and the cultural and religious narrative of Noah’s Pudding, the project provides a unique lens for young people to reflect on their own identities, roles in society, and the importance of dialogue across differences.
Over the two days, students participated in a structured programme that included:
Main presentations introducing the Life of a Chickpea concept and the themes of unity and dialogue.
Faith representatives’ segments, where diverse leaders shared insights on inclusion and community, followed by interactive Q&A sessions.
Workshops and interactive activities, including quizzes and group exercises, to reinforce learning in a fun and engaging way.
Noah’s Pudding sharing, a communal activity symbolising diversity, harmony, and the strength of working together.
The sessions provided students with a meaningful opportunity to develop cultural awareness, empathy, critical thinking, and leadership skills, while strengthening connections with local faith and community leaders. By engaging in dialogue, creative activities, and reflective discussion, students explored how differences can coexist harmoniously and contribute to a stronger, more inclusive community.
The two-day programme at Brine Leas Academy exemplifies the Life of a Chickpea project’s commitment to promoting understanding, tolerance, and social cohesion, empowering young people to become thoughtful, engaged, and resilient citizens.
