Date: 10 October 2013
The Hull branch of the Dialogue Society visited Hull Young People’s Parliament and took part in an event alongside young volunteers. The event was organised by Hull City Council in order to encourage young people to take part in civic matters and help develop new and innovative projects in conjunction with the council. The event started with a welcome speech presented by local councillors and then continued with a Q&A session with the young volunteers. The volunteers were also invited to take part in a roundtable discussion with the councillors where they raised issues that concerned them about health, housing, racism, discrimination, bullying safety and public transport. The event then continued in the parliament seat where all the motions by the volunteers were voiced once again and the voting took place.
Volunteers from the Hull branch of Dialogue Society stated that they are committed to involving the younger generations to join in withsimilar acitivities across the city of Hull.
