Wednesday, 17 March,Dialogue Society North, in association with Institute for Spirituality, Religion and Public Life hosted three representatives from Trees for Cities who gave a seminar on environmental responsibility.Trees for Cities as an independent charity was founded in 1993 and has since grown to support tree planting initiatives in cities worldwide. The seminar was divided into three sections which covered information about the active work of Trees for Cities worldwide; background about Trees for Cities’ educational activities for school children in raising consciousness about the environment; and finally an informative section about the fauna and plant life in Britain. All three speakers emphasized how tree planting and other environmental activities can contribute to social cohesion and facilitate increasing greater environmental responsibility in school children and adults alike. The seminar ended with a Q&A session in which participants asked questions regarding the active work of Trees for Cities in the UK and abroad.
