The aim of the event was engaging with the idea of identity. During the evening, participants discussed whether people living in the Dales feel their English identity being threatened by immigrants, and the discussion included the effects of media; i.e. what people see in the media about people of other faiths and cultures. It was concluded at the Dialogue, Diversity & the Dales evening that identity is best affirmed through relationship rather than avoidance, understanding rather than hostility.
