15th November 2012 will see the first ever elections of local police and crime commissioners (PCCs) across the country. The Dialogue Society, Leicester Branch, is inviting local people to come and consider what the introduction of this role will mean for local policing, and what kind of PCC they want for this area.
Local PCC candidates will be allotted 10-15 minutes to give their reflections, along with local politicians.
Attendees will have time to ask the speakers questions and to give their own perspectives.
Educated at the Judd School, Tonbridge and the University of Southampton, Loader joined the RAF in 1973. Promoted to Group Captain in 1995, he attended the Higher Command and Staff College and then became Station Commander at RAF Laarbruch in 1996.
Promoted to Air Commodore in 1999 he became Air Commodore for the Harriers in 2000. Promoted again, this time to Air Vice-Marshal, he was appointed as Assistant Chief of Defence Staff (Operations) in 2002 and Deputy Commander-in-Chief RAF Strike Command, in the rank of Air Marshal, in 2004.
Promoted to Air Chief Marshal in 2007 he became the first Commander-in-Chief of Air Command on 1 April 2007. He retired from the RAF in 2009. read more
Sarah has represented the Westcotes ward (where she lives) in Leicester for 5 years on Leicester City Council. Having previously scrutinised Regeneration and Transport, Sarah joined the Council Cabinet as lead for Environment and Sustainability.
Sarah is currently Assistant Mayor for Neighbourhoods, responsible for a budget of over £32 million covering key public facing services. including Community Safety, Community Services, on-street enforcement, business regulation, Libraries, cleaning, waste and recycling, Welfare Law Advice, customer services, IT and Revenues and Benefits.
Sarah Chairs the Safer Leicester Partnership that brings together the Police, Probation Service, NHS, the City Council and those from the VCS covering areas such as Domestic Violence and Victim Support to prevent and reduce crime. She is also part of the strategic board that bring together representatives from across the whole of the Police Force area of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland to work together to tackle community priorities on Crime and Anti-Social Behaviour. read more
He has lived in Leicestershire for most of his adult life and gained significant experience from his life experiences, having owned and managed his own business, having undertaken various roles with the Police force and other organisations; having served in the Rhodesian Army and having served as a Magistrate on the Leicester bench.
He has been a committed volunteer and an advocate in the community for over 25 years. He has worked on many diverse issues at regional, national and international level. read more
