Members of the Dialogue Society were pleased to attend the launch of the Mosaic Media Network, established at the behest of His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales as a network of professional Muslims who aim to further the cause of understanding and moderation in society.

The launch which took place at Channel 4’s offices in London, was attended by keynote speakers, such as the Rt Hon Hazel Blears MP, Department of Communities and Local Government and the Rt Hon Andy Burnham MP, Department of Culture, Media and Sport. HRH the Prince of Wales also endorsed his support for this important initiative via a video message.

Objectives of The Mosaic Media Network

  • The Mosaic Media Network seeks to engage Muslims and non-Muslims working across the media industry to address the representation of Muslims within the media and by the media, and offer media literacy education for community groups, as well as providing a platform for media professionals to network.
  • The Mosaic Media Network also aims to increase awareness of positive Muslim news stories, and to increase access for young Muslims to foster an interest and possible career in the media sector via such activities as job placements and work experience.

Members of the Dialogue Society found an excellent networking opportunity and a chance to discuss those issues surrounding perceptions of Muslims in the media today.
