Revd Canon Phil Rawlings

Borough Dean of Trafford

Phil has lived in Manchester for the last 17 years. At the age of 19 he felt called into ordained ministry and went to study in Nottingham after which he did his three-year curacy in Higher Blackley, Manchester. From there he moved to North Bolton to join a team at St. Peter’s Church, Halliwell, where he had responsibility for St. Andrew’s Church on the large Council Estate of Johnson Fold. In 1993 He felt called to move into Old Trafford, which is a majority Muslim area, next to Moss Side. Here the church developed an Eden Team and also developed a lot of inter-faith work as well as relevant evangelism. Phil has completed a Masters in Islamic Studies, and embarked on a Professional Doctorate. He is currently Borough Dean of Trafford. He teaches an undergraduate course and will teach a postgraduate course on ‘Islam in Britain’, at the Nazarene Theological College. He is really excited at the prospect of the NWTP Hub in Manchester. Phil is married to Maxine and they have four children.
