Cllr Ross Grant

Lord Mayor of Leicester

Councillor Ross Grant was born in Ashby-De-La-Zouch and attended St John the Baptist and Lancaster Boys Schools before moving onto Wyggeston and Queen Elizabeth 1 college. After completing his A-levels, he went to Aston University in Birmingham to study combined honours in Society and Government and Urban Policy and Management.

He was elected as a Member of the City Council at a by-election in 2004 and has served as the ward councillor for Knighton. As a member of the opposition, he has sat on a number of committees, including Overview Scrutiny, Children’s Scrutiny and Planning and is currently a Governor at Overdale Infants School and Chair of Trustees of Oak Multi Academy Trust. He is also a keen rugby supporter and continues to play prop for the Oadby Wyggestonians Rugby Football Club.
