Caroline Nokes is the Conservative MP for Romsey and Southampton North, she was elected in May 2010 with a majority of over 4000, defeating an incumbent Liberal Democrat.
Prior to her election Caroline had served for 11 years on Test Valley Borough Council, for ten years of which she was the Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture.
Caroline was educated at various local schools and colleges, and later studied for a degree in Government and Politics at the University of Sussex. She graduated in 1994 and spent 10 years working for a Member of the European Parliament. More recently she has been the Chief Executive of an animal welfare charity based in Hampshire. Caroline sits on the Environmental Audit Committee, scrutinising Government departments and their commitment to a low carbon agenda.
