Helen F. Wilson is a teaching fellow in urban and social geographies, Durham University. Her work is broadly concerned with the challenges and accomplishments of living with diversity in contemporary societies. She has published work on urban multiculture in Britain, multicultural schooling, the politics of tolerance, intercultural relations and conflict management, with a specific focus on the city of Birmingham. She is currently working on a book project on urban encounters that will explore the role of encounter as a constitutive element of urban experience, urban politics and urban futures.
