Fred Dervin is Professor of Multicultural Education at the University of Helsinki (Finland)
and Director of the Education for Diversities (E4D) research group. He specialises in
language and intercultural education, the sociology of multiculturalism and linguistics for
intercultural communication and education. Dervin has published extensively on identity,
the ‘intercultural’ and mobility/migration. His latest books: Politics of Interculturality (coedited with Anne Lavanchy and AnahyGajardo, Newcastle: CSP, 2011) and Impostures
