Dialogue School Session 3: Public Speaking

Sarah led the students in a thoroughly practical exploration of the art of public speaking, covering body language, structuring presentations, effective delivery and techniques for diminishing nerves. The students all gave short presentations, and received helpful feedback. Numan Celik reflects on the experience in his column.

Dialogue’s Apprentice
Students continued to work on their projects, with each individual leading on a particular project. They are planning the following projects:
Dialogue Society Event: Multiculturalism Hard Talk with Prof Tariq Modood and David Goodhart
Students joined the Dialogue Society team in making practical preparations for the event and in hosting it, as well as listening to the lively interview and ensuing discussion.
External Event: ‘“Organisational Voluntarism”: Pure Gifts, Dirty Money and the Field of Social Action in India.’
Some of the students attended this seminar with Brendan Donegan at SOAS’s Department of Development Studies.
