Biography of Nina Wadia

Nina Wadia is a British actress who played Zainab Masood in Eastenders from 2007 to 2013. She starred alongside Sanjeev Bhaskar, Meera Syal and Kulvinder Ghir in the hit sketch comedy Goodness Gracious Me and her many TV credits also include Waking the Dead, Skins and the TV adaptation of White Teeth by Zadie Smith. She has also had roles in films including Bend it Like Beckham, I Can't Think Straight and the Bollywood film Namaste London.

Nina was born in India in 1969. Her family lived in Mumbai, in a one-bedroom flat which regularly flooded during the monsoon. They moved to Hong Kong when she was nine.

She is married to the Canadian composer Raiomond Mirza and they have two children.

Session Summary

In an interactive interview with a member of the Dialogue Society staff Nina Wadia will explore her journey to success, discussing the challenges that she faced, the inspiration, attitudes and actions that helped her overcome these and her advice to participants at the start of their journeys. A Q&A session will follow the interview, and participants, staff and speakers will have time to interact informally over refreshments.

The format of sessions with 'role model' speakers will be as follows:

  • 5.15pm: Registration
  • 5.30pm: Introduction from a Dialogue Society member of staff
  • 5.40pm: Interview with speaker
  • 6.20pm: Question and answer session
  • 6.50pm: Closing remarks
  • 6.55pm: Refreshments
  • 7.15pm: End

About the Success School

The Dialogue Society Success School is a six-week programme of weekly evening seminars intended to help inspire, encourage and equip young people to aspire to and work towards success.

Participants will hear the inspirational stories of a range of successful professionals in a friendly and interactive environment (4 sessions). In addition, experts from performance coaching and self-help backgrounds will provide them with practical guidance on positive thinking and on setting and achieving manageable goals from (2 sessions). Dialogue Society staff will lead an additional practical session looking at key skills such as leadership and time management. The School will establish an ongoing network through which participants, staff and speakers can share ideas and opportunities. Click here for further information and poster.

Who's it For?

The School is primarily intended for young people of 16-21 years of age, and the Dialogue Society will initially advertise in North London. We hope to welcome participants from a range of cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
